Christian Counselor
Has a strong passion of introducing mental health in the Christian community. I provided various mental health topics and trainings in various churches and faith-based organization. I have incorporated Bible principles in my therapy sessions. I have worked along side bishops, pastors, and church administrators to discuss the concept about addressing mental health in churches.
Clinical Supervisor
After being licensed for 2 years, in 2008 I was a contracted clinical supervisor of a team of BIPOC clinicians, who counseled HS students. I later transition to a larger organization supervising their clinicians in their school-based program and currently supporting community-based clinicians who work in the Bay Area community. I have provided individual and group supervision to grad students, associates (formerly known as interns) and licensed clinicians.
I am a Bay Area Native, who has a passion for mental health and wellness. I attended Chabot College (AA in General Studies, 1994), San Jose State University (BA in Psychology, 1997), and Cal State Hayward (MS in Counseling with emphasis in Cross Cultural Training, 2001). I have completed my mental health training in various placements, such as, an adolescent residential group home for youth involved in the judicial system and an in-patient facility (TeleCare Villa Fairmont) for adults with dual diagnosis. I continued on to Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center in which I worked in the field of infant mental health, teen parenting. individual and family counseling, along with parenting/co-parenting counseling. I facilitated various psycho-educated theme groups, such as, self-esteem, parenting, and self-care. I have conducted various workshops and teaching faith communities about addressing grief/bereavement, depression, and domestic violence in the church communities. Being a Christian and a therapist, I have learned that people can have Jesus and a therapist too, so why not talk about it.
Through my work, I bring compassion, a sense of humor, sensitivity and discretion, honesty and respect.
